Miami Olympic Classes Regatta
The Miami regatta finished on 28 January 2012 with some major victories from those sponsored by PHB. In the windsurfer, Nick Dempsey won every race bar one (which he probably would have won were it not for a rule infringement!). Paul Goodison came out with a victory Gold in the 74 boat Laser fleet (to match that from Beijing) with Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark winning Silver in the women's 470 class. Hannah and Saskia also won Silver in the Worlds so need to go up just one all important notch for Weymouth this coming August.
It was a slightly unusual regatta in that it followed closely after the Olympic classes World championships held in Australia and so several of the top sailors were not competing. Those from Team GBR were there to test equipment and not for the Miami sunshine.
