Head of Dispute Resolution
Described in the 2015 Legal 500 as “exceptionally capable”, Stephen specialises in commercial litigation and contentious trusts and probate disputes. His practice has a significant international element including acting for overseas trustees in connection with both UK and international litigation.
Stephen has particular expertise in relation to the interaction between trust disputes and disputes involving companies which form part of trust structures. His practice also embraces financial services disputes including fraud in the financial sector. He also advises on shareholder and partnership disputes.
In relation to contentious probate he has particular expertise in relation to claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975.
Stephen publishes articles in the legal and business press and is determined to ensure a cost efficient and cost effective service for clients.
The Legal 500 UK recommends Stephen for his commercial litigation work commenting that he “gets clients to trial in the best possible shape”. Stephen is "highly regarded" for contentious trusts and probate where he heads the department. In particular, the directory recognises that he was "recently successful in representing Maxim Drozdov in Drozdov v Ritsema Van Eck, securing a favourable order transferring the beneficial interest in a shareholding in Monarch Foods International Limited BVI".
