Edward Fennell’s Legal Diary reports on Simon Beccle and his client, Tini Owens, welcoming divorce law reform
Comments by Simon Beccle, family law specialist and Partner in the Family Department at Payne Hicks Beach and his client Tini Owens, first published in Edward Fennell's Legal Diary online on 11 June 2020 and reproduced with kind permission, following the vote in the House of Commons on 8 June 2020 in which MPs approved the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill on its second reading. The Bill which introduces “no-fault or no-conduct” divorce is a direct consequence of the Supreme Court’s failure in the 2018 Judgment in Tini Owens v Hugh John Owens to grant her a divorce.
