Fiona Shackleton LVO receives academic honour
Fiona Shackleton was one of a number of leading figures drawn from the professions, industry, the arts and sport to be honoured by the University of Exeter at its summer 2010 graduation ceremonies.
Fiona Shackleton LVO is a partner of Payne Hicks Beach and one of the country's leading family law solicitors. She is also personal solicitor to Prince William of Wales and Prince Harry of Wales. Fiona's long standing skills and expertise in family law came to prominence in the course of high profile divorce work including that for Sir Paul McCartney and for Madonna.
In her speech, accepting her honorary doctorate, Fiona Shackleton, a graduate of Exeter University spoke of the importance of good team work and the practical application of skills in achieving success for clients. Fiona who left university with a now well publicised third-class degree told graduates not to be put off by major set backs, life is a long distance race and it is important never to give up.
Fiona Shackleton said "It is a great honour to have received this honorary doctorate and I will make every possible effort to live up to the expectations of those who have bestowed it upon me".
The University of Exeter's Chancellor, Floella Benjamin OBE commented "Our honorary graduands are leaders in their fields and they are people the University is extremely proud to be associated with".
