Nick is a partner in the family department. His skill is navigating clients through complex divorce cases and drafting their pre- and post-nuptial agreements (often with an international dimension). He is described in the legal directories as “very wise, very scholarly” and “an extremely practical and strategic thinker”.
Nick specialises in advising on complex divorce disputes, particularly involving companies, trusts and issues of foreign law; and on drafting the pre- and post-nuptial agreements which can avoid those disputes. The nature of his work means that the identity of his clients is strictly confidential; but he acts for business leaders, celebrities, landed families and wealthy international couples with connections to the United Kingdom.
As a barrister, Nick is adept at communicating complex legal points to his clients clearly and concisely. His focus is on early settlement whenever possible, but dynamic and persuasive representation in court where it is not.
Nick practised at the Bar for five years before accepting an invitation to join Farrer & Co, where he became a partner in 2016. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (having previously won their Annual Award for Young Family Lawyers in Europe). He lectures at Oxford University on the law of nuptial agreements.
Called to the Bar 2005, joined Payne Hicks Beach 2019, partner 2019.
