The law directory recognises that he deals with many significant trust disputes on both a domestic and international basis and has extensive experience in Inheritance Act claims. Stephen specialises in commercial litigation and contentious trusts and probate disputes. His practice has a significant international element including acting for overseas trustees in connection with both UK and international litigation.
Stephen's practice also embraces financial services disputes including fraud in the financial sector. He also advises on shareholder and partnership disputes.
In relation to contentious probate he has particular expertise in relation to claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975.
Stephen publishes articles in the legal and business press and is determined to ensure a cost efficient and cost effective service for clients.
The Legal 500 UK also recommends Stephen and writes that he is “exceptionally capable” and "highly regarded" for contentious trusts and probate where he heads the department. In particular, the directory recognises that he was "successful in representing Maxim Drozdov in Drozdov v Ritsema Van Eck, securing a favourable order transferring the beneficial interest in a shareholding in Monarch Foods International Limited BVI". In addition, the law directory ranks Stephen for his commercial litigation work commenting that he “gets clients to trial in the best possible shape” and “brings his calm reassuring experience to bear”.
