The UK’s Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has delayed the introduction of no fault divorce legislation from autumn 2021 to 6 April 2022. This is of no surprise to UK divorce lawyers but hugely disappointing for separating couples.
Emily commented that the delay means the ‘blame game’ continues and couples will have to wait until next Spring to formalise their separation, allowing them to divorce consensually. She stated “The legislation sorely needs to be prioritised. Parties should have the right to separate amicably and with dignity and the long awaited day cannot come too soon.”
