The 200 strong list is compiled by The Times in cooperation with international market-research firm Statista. Based on recommendations from peers it covers 26 categories across business, public and private client fields.
The editorial highlights the firm’s history, describing it as “venerable” and having “several client relationships that have spanned multiple generations and on working with many household names”. Advising “wealthy individuals and families, family offices and commercial entities” our “expertise in agriculture and estates, education, commercial property and mergers and acquisitions” is noted alongside the commendations in Family, Inheritance & succession and Tax.
Two of the firm’s significant cases in the public domain are mentioned: “representing Hiroko Barclay, the estranged wife of the billionaire businessman Sir Frederick Barclay, in their High Court divorce battle.” and working “with BNP Paribas Real Estate on the £120 million sale of a 91- acre farmland site in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, where a new TV and film studio will be built”. Baroness Fiona Shackleton “the firm’s renowned divorce lawyer” and leading landed estates lawyer Simon Blackburn are both included in the commentary.
