Sarah Williams shortlisted for two awards at the Family Law Awards 2023

We are delighted to announce that Sarah Williams, partner in the Family department and head of our surrogacy, fertility and modern law, has been shortlisted as a finalist for two awards at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2023.

Sarah is shortlisted in two categories: ‘Family Law Partner of the Year’ and ‘ Family Law Commentator of the Year’.

The Family Law Partner award recognises an individual who has made a major contribution to the field of family law through their practice, and shown that they have executed a strategic vision through outstanding leadership.

The Family Law Commentator award recognises a commentator who the family law community consider to have provided the most useful commentary to help them in their practice, or to promote the practice of family law through any format including books, journal articles, videos or blogs.

We are very proud that Sarah has been recognised and this is testament to her expertise in her specialist field of law. Sarah has a strong reputation as an expert in complex international surrogacy, fertility and modern family law, in addition to having extensive experience in all children related litigation. The Legal 500 UK describes Sarah as a “stand-out individual” with “outstanding knowledge of modern families and fertility law issues”.

Sarah represents internationally renowned figures from the fields of sports and media and is adept at handling all her cases with the utmost discretion whilst delivering the best outcome for her clients. She spent the first decade of her career as a practising Family Barrister at a leading set of chambers representing parents, children, guardians and the Official Solicitor. She is adept at handling all her cases with the utmost discretion whilst delivering the best outcome for her clients.  Sarah is a prolific legal commentator, speaking on panels at the European Chapter meeting for the International Academy of Family Lawyers, at The Law Society, at the Payne Hicks Beach International Modern Families event and at international forums. Sarah is an annual contributing author for the International Comparative Legal Guide (Family Law), regularly contributes to esteemed domestic and international family law journals and a University Guest Lecturer on Family Law and Ethics. The Modern Family Podcast Series lead by Sarah and which addresses key issues such as women’s fertility preservation, where to start in choosing donor gametes and creating a family via surrogacy and featured some incredible industry professionals won the ‘Best blog/podcast of the Year’ at the 2022 Citywealth’s Brand Management & Reputation Awards.

The Family Law Awards brings the family law community together, celebrating excellence, networking and recognising its vital contribution to society.  The Family Law Awards were launched in 2011 to recognise the important work of family lawyers, and celebrate their many successes and outstanding achievements. The shortlist has been chosen by a judging panel made up of the heads of the Family Law Bar Association, Resolution, the Association of Lawyers for Children and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, along with Family Law editors and publishing professionals.

The awards ceremony will be held on Monday 27 November 2023 at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel.
