In commenting on the ruling, Privacy and Media law partner Hanna Basha said that it is “an unpopular decision for the media”. She added that it is “a welcome decision for those suspected of crimes” as suspects who are subsequently not charged will “no longer have a reputational cloud hanging over their heads simply because of the investigation”.
