The Regulatory Framework of the International Art Trade

Our Art and Cultural Property Law specialist Till Vere-Hodge contributed to the latest Art Basel and UBS report A Survey of Global Collecting in 2022 authored by Dr Clare McAndrew of Arts Economics, the leading economist in the international art market. The Report has been linked below with kind permission.

Till’s contribution takes the form of an article on The Regulatory Framework of the International Art Trade, co-authored with fellow art lawyer Katalin Andreides and woven into the report as Exhibit 2. The article explores whether regulatory differences can explain why some locations or jurisdictions have become truly global hubs in the art trade and others have not. Exhibit 1 is a contribution by Professor Olav Velthuis that deals with Globalization and Power Imbalances within the Global Art System.
