McCARTNEY V MILLS McCARTNEY
Ms Mills was seeking an award of £125M in the proceedings from total assets of £400M following a short marriage that lasted just four years and where the assets had been substantially generated by the husband prior to their relationship. We were successful in persuading the court that Ms Mills should be awarded a much smaller amount and she exited the marriage with total assets of just £24.3M. We further argued that her settlement should include a notional sum of £500,000, which related to Ms Mills’ overspending during the period of separation.
