Cybersecurity & Data Privacy
The team has been at the forefront of advising on some of the most sophisticated cyber attacks in recent times. We have extensive and unique expertise in advising targets of cyber intrusion and data breaches on the steps that can be taken to safeguard against cyber attacks and to manage the issues that arise if an attack does occur. We regularly work with the world’s leading cyber experts to neutralise, mitigate and investigate threats.
We also advise on the legal remedies that can be pursued through the courts including, where appropriate, applications for injunctive relief and to identify those responsible for wrongdoing.
In the context of this work, the team also advises on the protection of data and regulatory compliance.
The team’s breadth of expertise in the specialist fields of privacy, reputation management and harassment means that it is ideally placed to advise on the nexus between cyber and data issues and the threat of publication of sensitive information.
Recent experience includes representing Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint al Hussein in successfully establishing the hacking of her mobile phone and those of her associates by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum through the use of NSO Group’s spyware, Pegasus. That litigation resulted in several ground-breaking judgments in both the Family Division of the High Court and the Court of Appeal, including the hacking fact-finding judgment of the President of the Family Division and the Court of Appeal’s subsequent judgment.
