It is worth noting at the outset that guidance remains to be published and is constantly being updated or changed, so please refer to the government website [1] for the most up-to-date information.
Also, please note that for any switch or extension you still need to meet the relevant requirements of that route and pay any associated application fees.
Visitors
For any Ukrainian in the UK who has a visitor visa currently, they can temporarily switch into a points-based route or a family visa route.
Skilled workers
If an individual has a Skilled Worker visa and this is due to expire, you can now apply to extend your leave or apply for settlement if you meet the relevant rules.
Students
If an individual currently has a Student visa that is due to expire you can apply to extend your leave or switch to a Graduate visa.
Seasonal workers
An individual can now extend their Seasonal Worker visa to 31 December 2022 if they are unable to return to Ukraine, so long as the individual continues to work in the permitted job with the same sponsor (or Scheme Operator). In this instance, no action needs to be taken as the Home Office will work with the sponsor to progress the visa extension.
We will endeavour to keep this page updated as new information is released and updated by the Home Office. Please enquire if you have any questions regarding switching or extending your current visa route in the UK and you are a Ukrainian national.
The ongoing situation in Ukraine is extremely worrying. If you require any advice please do not hesitate to contact Matt Ingham or Richard Milford of the Citizenship and Immigration Team.
