The Davidoffs are family members operating a group of property management companies under the banner ‘ABC Estates’. They issued a claim in defamation against Nick Hargrave in February 2023 over a Tweet of 7 May 2022 and a post of 11 May 2022. The Davidoffs sought an injunction, unlimited damages and costs against Mr Hargrave.
A few months after the service of Mr Hargrave’s defence to the claim, which relied amongst other things on a detailed defence of truth, honest opinion and publication on a matter of public interest, the Davidoffs discontinued their claim and have now paid an agreed sum in respect of Mr Hargrave’s legal costs.
