Matthew is an Associate in the Private Client team.

Matthew has experience in drafting complex Wills and Codicils and in preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients, considering validity, construction and capacity issues whenever relevant.

Matthew’s work also includes advising on a variety of trust and estate administration matters, including those involving tax planning structures and the appointment and retirement of trustees. He is able to assist clients – whether they are testators, executors, trustees or beneficiaries – in navigating thorny family and/or fiduciary relationships in relation to their matters.

Matthew works closely with the firm’s contentious trusts and estates, probate, art law and property teams in order to provide a holistic service to clients.

Matthew qualified as a solicitor in 2024, having completed his training contract with Payne Hicks Beach between 2022 and 2024. His first seat was in the Property Department, his second seat was in Private Client, his third seat was in the Dispute Resolution Department and his fourth seat was in the Family Department.

Matthew graduated with a first in English Language and Literature before gaining a distinction in his master’s degree in eighteenth-century literature, both from the University of Oxford. He went on to complete his PGDL and LPC at BPP Law School.
