Launch of the Mental Health & Family Breakdown initiative to support and protect vulnerable clients

Last night dozens of family lawyers representing a wide range of firms and chambers met at the launch of a new initiative to improve the support we give to clients during vulnerable periods of their lives

Spearheaded by Ben Parry-Smith and Nick Manners, partners in the Family department at Payne Hicks Beach, psychologists, psychiatrists, academics, social workers and lawyers have all collaborated to produce a range of peer-reviewed guides. They are a valuable resource for all practicing in the field of family law.

“Caring for the mental and emotional health of our clients, each other, and ourselves is a duty we must all take seriously,” commented Ben Parry-Smith.

Nick Manners said: “We very much hope these guides will help everyone. The collaboration and support shown by the contributions of over 40 family lawyers was heart-warming. It was a privilege for Ben and me to work alongside so many colleagues and experts.”

Special thanks are extended to Sheena Cassidy Hope of Mishcon de Reya LLP, Emma Jones of The University of Sheffield, Jonathan Edgeley of Montrose Health Group Ltd, Andy Hobbs of Assurety and Rt Hon Sir Robert Buckland KBE KC MP.

The initiative would not have been possible without the support of Kelly GerrardLuke Scarratt and Kate Edgington from the Family department.
