There is a requirement for the government to keep asylum applications confidential. If an appeal is required, there is a presumption that hearings are held in public, but applications can be made to keep hearings behind closed doors. We take particular care in our asylum cases to protect any sensitive information securely.
The current Home Office policy is to refuse all claims from EU member states as soon as possible, without the possibility of appeal, unless exceptional circumstances apply. We have extensive experience of acting for clients seeking asylum from EU countries.
Asylum claims can currently take a year or more to be decided, depending on the complexity of the case and the volume of evidence. We understand the uncertainty our clients feel while their claims are being heard, and we have experience in challenging these delays by judicial review when we feel the delay has become unreasonable.
