The social media giant, TikTok, is facing a £27 million fine by the Information Commissioner’s Office for processing the data of children under the age of 13 without appropriate parental consent. Sian adds that the ICO’s Children’s Code, which came into effect in September 2021, will continue to be implemented to the highest level, and that the substantial fine of £27 million to TikTok will show a firm commitment by the ICO to protect children’s privacy.
