The Local Authority brought an application to court to prevent the young person, aged 15, from travelling outside of the UK to undergo “top surgery” (a double mastectomy) in another country.  We successfully acted for our client before the President of the Family Division and in the face of our arguments; the Local Authority withdrew their application.  We were successful in securing a costs order against the Local Authority on the basis that they had behaved unreasonably by bringing the claim in the first place.
