Overview
Amelia Mercer is an Associate in the London-based Citizenship & Immigration team. She advises individuals and families on a broad range of UK immigration and British nationality matters, acting on both contentious and non-contentious cases. Her practice includes discretionary and human rights-based immigration applications, complex British citizenship and nationality matters, and applications requiring detailed legal and evidential submissions.
Amelia also advises on EU Settlement Scheme applications (including late applications), visitor visas, settlement applications and Global Talent and other work-related immigration routes. She also has experience working on appeals to the immigration tribunals and with other forms of redress such as judicial and administrative review.

Qualifications & Accreditations
Amelia joined Payne Hicks Beach in 2023 and qualified as a solicitor in 2025. She graduated from King’s College London with a degree in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, with a dissertation focused on government immigration policy. She subsequently completed an LLM and the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) at the University of Law.
