Last week, the ECHR declined to interfere with parliamentary privilege which has been hailed as a win for free speech. However, Hanna commented, “whilst free speech and parliamentary privilege are crucial to protect the independence and integrity of parliament, which in turn is crucial for democracy, we should be concerned that a peer can frustrate a court injunction without due process.”
