
Clarissa is a senior associate in the private client department.
Clarissa advises individuals, families and trustees on a broad range of UK and international tax, trust and succession planning matters. In particular, she has expertise advising in relation to trust structures holding landed estates and on the application of agricultural and business property reliefs.
She has experience making applications to Court under the Variation of Trusts Act and has made several successful applications to extend the perpetuity period of family trusts in the last three years.
Clarissa advises on and prepares complex wills dealing with capacity issues where relevant and has made multiple applications to the Court of Protection for Deputyship Orders to appoint deputies for individuals who have lost capacity.
Clarissa’s work also includes advising in relation to offshore trusts, including on distributions to UK resident beneficiaries and carrying out tax planning for individuals who move to the UK to live and for those who have been living in the UK and move abroad.
Clarissa trained at Payne Hicks Beach qualifying into the private client department in 2015 and was promoted to senior associate in 2020. She read Psychology at the University of Bath, obtaining First Class Honours before converting to law.
Clarissa is a trustee of the charitable association where her two daughters go to school.
