Polly is Chief Executive of Demos. Polly spent much of her career at the Guardian where she reported on health, social affairs and education, before joining the lobby team as Whitehall Editor, writing about government and policy. Dominic Crossley spoke at the recent Informa Connect Transcontinental Trusts conference in Istanbul on a highly topical subject looking at the tension between transparency in the West vs privacy in the East. While privacy for public figures and celebrities vs public interest has been a long-standing debate in the West, Dominic’s speech argues that globally, all citizens are united in the need for laws that protect data and online privacy. “… it is data, not footballers, that has woken the world up to the need to grapple with privacy rights.” Following the speech, Dominic contributed to a panel discussion.
