Sara and Victoria address domestic abuse and cohesive control within family law proceedings as a part of a broader initiative at Payne Hicks Beach to support and protect vulnerable clients. This Family law initiative has been spearheaded by Ben Parry Smith and Nick Manners at Payne Hicks Beach, alongside psychologists, psychiatrists, academics, social workers, and lawyers to produce a range of peer-reviewed guides in this area.
Together, Victoria and Sara identify the warning signs that a client may be in a vulnerable position, how to adapt their ways of working to protect their well-being and understand the family court’s role.
The also tackle the following key questions:
- What is domestic abuse
- What to look out for if we think our client might be the victim of domestic abuse
- What to do if a client has been harmed or is at risk of harm?
- What can the family court do?
- What if your client is being accused of domestic abuse?
